Lake Notes: One of the most Scenic lakes in the
Country with over 65,000 miles of shoreline and 14,000+
islands. It might hold more trophy pike per acre
than anywhere else on earth. This would be big news if
the muskie fishing wasn't also so great. Lake of the
Woods has so many pike hotspots, naming just a few is
tough, but Clearwater Bay, Keewatin Channel, and the
Tangle are good in the north end. Near Sioux Narrows,
Lobstick, Snake, and Long Bays are tough to beat. Fish
approaching 50 inches (127 cm) are caught regularly,
while 40-inch (101-cm) fish and better are relatively
common. Casting for pike in July is good and the bite
picks up again in September. Fed by the Rainy
River from the south and drained to the northwest by the
Winnipeg River. Connects to Rainy Lake thru the
Rainy River.
