The last two world record trout were caught in Great
Bear Lake. A 74 pound lake trout was caught and
released on Great Bear in 1995. The water of Great
Bear Lake is very cold and relatively shallow which
makes fishing vastly different from the lower latitudes.
You can troll, cast and jig in crystal clear water
rarely deeper than 15 feet. Ice covered for 8
months of the year.
